It is time…

Published December 22, 2011 by Lily DeLuxe

To be nice and kind and generous!!! Towards others but also toward yourself. As you know I am a big believer in indulgence! Not totally selfish egotistic give me indulgence but more I know that I am worth it and I deserve it. So if you deserve it, so does people around you. Give love and kindness and good deeds to those you can. Eat all you want and just marvel in the comfort of having food, warmth and a safe home. So many people don’t. So enjoy this holiday and when you do be thankful for what you´ve got and if you can try give some of your luxury to those in need.

Enough preaching, time to stuff my pretty self with truffles!

Hootchy Kootchy Club is dead, long live Hootchy Kootchy!

Published April 15, 2011 by Lily DeLuxe

Tomorrow is the last Hootchy Kootchy Club at Södra Teatern as we know it. The club celebrate five years and have decided to pull the final curtain. Hootchy is not just the best burlesque club in Europe, it is also where my personal burlesque story began 5 years ago. As you might have read in interviews it was the first time that I saw burlesque live and all of a sudden things just fell into place. My love for performing, vintage clothing and old school music. At the time I was a very serious actress and felt very liberated by the light and entertaining side of this art.

So Lily Deluxe was born in London and after having made my debut at Volupté I soon returned to be a performer at Hootchy both solo and as a force behind the Hootchy Kootchy Hussies. It´s been a journey alright, all the mad stuff we´ve been trough, mostly glitter, laughter and magical moments, but also some hard work and tough love.

Tomorrow is gonna be the best party ever and I wanna personally thank Karin Vicotrin and Emma Kjellander for this journey. It is in a way sad that it is the last club but I do understand that the time has come to venture down new roads. And yes Stockholm vous-etes burlesque!!

See ya tomorrow in a rain of champagne and confetti!

Your turn

Published December 11, 2010 by Lily DeLuxe

I wrote about my shopping adventures in London recently. This time I´d like you to go on a shopping spree. More precisely I´d like to invite you to Alternativ Bloppis. It is a small vintage market where all the sellers are bloggers.

I will be selling selected vintage pieces that I have collected over many years, clothes, hats, bags, scarves, gloves, lingerie and the odd stage costume for those who fancy that kind of stuff.

In addition to all the lovely things to buy there will be cupcakes (off course) music and wine, can hardly think of a better way to spend a wendsday evening.

This all happens at Tokyo Stop Frejgatan 17 in Stockholm from 18.00 to 21.00

Go on treat yourself, you know you are wort it!!!

Initials B.B

Published May 25, 2010 by Lily DeLuxe

Initial BB is on a constant repeat in my head. Just saw Gainsbourg un vie herodique yesterday. It´s been a few years since I actively listened to Gainsbourg, Brel and the like. It was an interesting movie about a man who had very low self-esteem and covered it up with wit and a big ego. No matter what you think of his private life you have to hand it to him, the man was a musical genius, there are so many of his songs that I like his own recordings but also Poupée de cire poupée de son, Comment te dire adieu and many more.

The women portrayed in the move are stunning, Brigitte Bardot, Jane Birkin and his first wife Elisabeth are all drop-dead gorgeous and have tons of personality and talent.

Leatitia Casta has a difficult role to play, the one of  Brigitte Bardot at the time haled as one of the sexiest women alive. She put a lot of energy in to it and with the films playful and bizarre tone she pulls it off. Though she has nothing on B.B´s knock-out sexual charisma.

B.B´s youthful charms have given away to xenophobic and homophobic statements that she been found guilty and fined for inciting racial hatred. It would be easy to knock her of as an old crazy lady but this is really disgusting. Knowing that she has supported France extreme rightwing party Front National makes it a bit odd to watch her old moves  and really stains her early career.

Marilyn mon amour

Published April 23, 2010 by Lily DeLuxe

I have recently had the pleasure of looking at hundreds of photos of Marilyn Monroe.  She is absolutely stunning in 99.9% of them. The woman did simply not have a bad angle or a bad hairday. Very good genes indeed. Having seen this photo of her mother. You can see where her beauty stems from. Not only was she pretty but a smart cookie too. I guess a lot of you have read Blonde or a biography or two  on M.M and know had she not been sensitive and clever enough to use her sexiness and innocence she would never have gotten as far as she did.

It would have been interesting to see how she would have developed as an actress and what parts she would have chosen later on in life. Would she have continued acting or would she have produced, directed or done something entierly different?  As it is she is frozen in time as a glorious silver screen goddess.  An icon.

Marilyn Monroe got her name from Marilyn Miller. An accomplished singer, dancer and actress who was made into a star by Florenz Ziegfeld in the Ziegfeld Follies 1918. In the 1920´s and early 1930´s she was a huge success on Broadway,

Like Monroe, Miller had a dependency on alcohol, like Monroe, Miller was married three times. Miller died age 37, Monroe at 36.

In fact Monroe became Miller when she married Arthur Miller in 1956

Marilyn remains an enigma and the most beautiful junkie that ever lived.

Doglovers

Published April 8, 2010 by Lily DeLuxe

I went to a dogshow this past weekend to check out different dogs… Not knowing what to expect I was quite amused, shocked and put off!  The first thing I noticed was the owners, they were mostly wanna-be hairstylists. They combed, sprayed, curled and cut the fur and locks of their beloved ones  (I am not going to go into the poodleowners that an entire chapter of its own).A bit strange I thought and it would not have surprised me if they had applied lipstick and nailvarnish too.

Next thing was the way these people dressed. I had no idea there existed  such a thing as a dogshowuniform.  The women favored a skirtsuite with sun-tanned colored tights and flats, while the men wore gray suits. Were all these doglovers members of Jehovah’s Witnesses? Finally the all treated there dogs as humans and most of them had human names and not even funny ironical names. What happened to Speck, Spot and Buster?

God forbid that I should ever enter my future dogs into a show, should it happen I would look immaculate  in a  50´s outfit and my dogs would look spectacular without curlers and pedicure. My dogs will be called Sausage and Vionnet and be absolute beautiful DOGS not showponys!!!
